The government of Uruguay announced this Saturday (4) that it will send a helicopter and crew from its Air Force to assist in rescue efforts following floods in Rio Grande do Sul.

Other South American countries also spoke out about the disaster in RS. Argentina, for example, expressed “solidarity and condolences” to the families of the victims, making “all immediate help” available to care for those affected.
Venezuela's foreign minister, speaking on behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, also expressed solidarity and support for Brazilians.
Almost two thirds of cities affected
Almost two-thirds of the cities in Rio Grande do Sul were affected by the devastating storms that occurred throughout the week, according to a report released this Saturday (4) by Civil Defense. Of 497 municipalities, 300 were affected.
In this Saturday, the Guaíba River reached an impressive 5.10 meters far surpassing the historical record of 1941, which was 4.76 meters.
The level of the Guaíba should remain above five meters for two or three days, according to the hydrologist at the State Situation Room, Pedro Camargo.
