US airlines cancel another 1,600 flights and name Covid in teams

US airlines continue to cancel and delay flights by the thousands as their operations suffer the loss of employees on account of Covid-19 cases.

Airlines canceled more than 1,620 flights as of Thursday afternoon (6) and delayed more than 1,350 across the United States, according to flight tracking website FlightAware.

On Wednesday (5), US airlines canceled 1,790 flights and delayed another 6,097.

Southwest Airlines canceled 562 flights, 18% of its full stopover, by noon on Thursday, more than any other US carrier.

United Airlines canceled 227 flights, 11% of those scheduled for Thursday. United is offering riders who take extra trips up to three times their normal pay by the end of the month.
