Military authorities from the United States and China gathered in Shanghai for a series of meetings that, according to the US military, on Thursday (3), focused on reducing dangerous actions of Chinese military ships and aircraft.
“US military authorities have traveled to Shanghai, China to meet for conversations at a level of work in order to reduce the incidence of unsafe and non-PLA navy actions,” said US military statement, referring to the popular liberation army.
Known as a working group of the Military Maritime Advisory Agreement (MMCA), semiannual conversations took place this week, the statement added.
The United States has complained of dangerous flights and sea maneuvers of the Chinese military in the region.
On Wednesday (2), the Armed Forces of China completed two days of war exercises around Taiwan, with long-range and royal fire exercises in the Sea of Eastern China, marking a climb of tension around the island.
