US and Poland consider supplying fighter jets to Ukraine

The United States and Poland are evaluating the possibility of Poland supplying fighter jets to Ukraine. The information was released by a White House spokesman.

The confirmation comes amid requests made by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, for other Eastern European countries to send fighter planes to his country.

As part of talks with Poland, the United States is determining what “capacities we could provide to cover Poland if it decides to send planes to Ukraine,” said the spokesman, who did not elaborate on what options are being considered.

The spokesman said sending fighter jets to Ukraine is a “sovereign decision for any country” and noted that there are a number of logistical issues to consider, including how the aircraft would be transported from Poland to Ukraine.

Aircraft carrier

The United States has also decided to send an aircraft carrier to the Aegean Sea this week. The purpose of the deployment is to ensure that flight operations can be carried out in that region if tensions over Russia’s invasion of Ukraine escalate.
