US: Annual inflation eases to 2.9% in July as expected, core CPI at 3.2%

Inflation excluding food and energy, the so-called core CPI, eased to 3.2% from 3.3% previously, its lowest level in 39 months, as expected. The monthly indicator rose 0.2% from 0.1% in the previous month.

Dollar reaction
