US Army carries out precision airstrikes against Houthi targets in Sanaan

The US Army said it carried out precision airstrikes on Saturday against a missile storage facility and a command and control facility operated by the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen’s capital, Sanaan.

In a statement, the US military’s Central Command said the strikes were aimed at “disrupting and degrading Houthi operations, such as attacks against US Navy warships and merchant vessels in the Red Sea, Bab al-Mandeb and Gulf of Aden.” .”

The American military also said it hit several Houthis single-use drones and an anti-ship cruise missile over the Red Sea.

Videos released by CENTCOM (United States Central Command) show military aircraft taking off from an unidentified location.

Reuters was unable to independently verify the location or date the video was filmed.

Saturday’s attack followed a similar attack carried out last week by US aircraft against a command and control facility operated by the Houthis, who control much of Yemen.

On Thursday (19), Israel launched attacks on ports and energy infrastructure in areas of Yemen controlled by the Houthis and threatened more attacks against the group, which has launched hundreds of missiles at Israel over the past year.

The Iran-backed Yemeni group has been attacking commercial ships in the Red Sea for more than a year, trying to impose a naval blockade on Israel, claiming to be acting in solidarity with the Palestinians in Israel’s year-long war with Gaza.
