US – Coronavirus: More than 60 million cases, over 837,000 dead

The total number of registered infections from SARS-CoV-2 in the United States of America exceeded the limit of sixty million yesterday Sunday, according to the data collected by Johns Hopkins University.

As of 16:21 (local time; 23:21 Greek time), the university reported 60,062,077 confirmed cases of the virus.

At the same time, the reported deaths of patients due to complications of COVID-19 reached 837,504, according to this Baltimore School of Medicine, which collects real-time data.

In absolute terms, the United States remains the country hardest hit by the pandemic, with more than 15% of deaths and about 20% of infections reported worldwide.

Infections exceeded 50 million on 13 December, 40 million on 6 September, 30 million on 24 March and 20 million on 1 June. The most infectious Omicron variant of the virus causes a new wave of infections.
