US court reveals new details about search of Donald Trump’s home

A new version of the statement that US federal investigators used to carry out a search warrant in Mar-a-Lago has revealed some previously unknown details about the restricted materials that former President Donald Trump gave to the Department of Justice, under subpoena, in June.

The most complete version of the statement was released Tuesday by a federal judge in Florida.

It was previously known that Trump’s lawyers provided investigators with an envelope, which contained 38 unique documents with markings, according to court documents.

But the new statement indicates that some of these confidential files contained tags for “HCS, SI and FISA”.

These classification markings show that the documents were linked to extremely sensitive government programs. “HCS” refers to human sources, or spies, who often work with the CIA.

“SI” refers to signal intercepts that are typically handled by the National Security Agency. And “FISA” refers to domestic surveillance and wiretapping related to counterintelligence.

The new details confirm for the first time that documents related to these programs were returned to the US government as part of the June subpoena.

Previous court documents indicated that when Trump voluntarily returned 15 boxes of materials to the National Archives in January, they contained 184 classified documents, including some with the same HCS, SI and FISA labels, as well as other markings.

Most of the information has already been released publicly, but the new version provides some new details about the investigation.

They shed new light on the subpoena used to obtain surveillance tapes from Trump’s company, which prosecutors used while investigating possible mishandling of confidential files at Mar-a-Lago.

A federal judge had previously said that subpoena was served on June 24. The unedited document says the subpoena required the Trump Organization to turn over “any and all surveillance video footage, photographs and/or CCTV from indoor cameras located underground” between January 10 and June 24 of this year.

Trump’s representatives served the subpoena on July 6, giving FBI agents a hard drive, according to the document. The Trump Organization is known to have handed over the surveillance footage, but the new filing adds some details about how and when they complied.
