US: Criminal charges against two Iranians for trying to interfere in the 2020 elections

The United States announced on Thursday that it had filed criminal charges against two Iranians who tried to interfere in the 2020 presidential election.

In particular, Seyyed Mohammad Hosein Musa Kazemi, 24, and Sajjad Kashian, 27, are accused of obtaining confidential information about the US election process from at least one state website.

They are also accused of sending threatening e-mails to intimidate voters as well as a video with content that misinformed about alleged vulnerabilities in the electoral infrastructure.

In addition, the US Treasury Department announced on Thursday that it has imposed sanctions on six Iranian citizens and an Iranian entity for attempting to influence the 2020 US presidential election.
