The deputy head of the mission for the US embassy in Ukraine and members of the embassy team traveled to Lviv on Tuesday, State Department spokesman Ned Price said.
Speaking to the State Department, Price said the embassy team “met with interlocutors from the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.”
“Today’s trip was a first step towards more regular trips in the near future,” he said, noting that it is temporary at the moment.
“We are speeding up preparations for the resumption of the embassy work in Kyiv as soon as possible,” Price said.
He said the State Department “is constantly assessing and re-evaluating and re-evaluating the security situation in order to reopen the embassies as soon as possible to facilitate our support for the government and people of Ukraine as they bravely defend their country.”
