The United States embassy in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, “has resumed services”, according to a post on X this Wednesday (20) by Bridget A. Brink, the American ambassador to Ukraine.
The diplomatic building closed early due to a “possible threat of a significant attack” on the Ukrainian capital.
“We continue to encourage U.S. citizens to remain vigilant, monitor official Ukrainian sources for updates, and be prepared to shelter in place if an air alert is announced,” Brink said.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence claimed that Russia had staged an “information and psychological attack” by spreading a false warning of a massive attack on Kiev.
US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller previously noted that the embassy was expected to reopen this Thursday (21).
He commented that he was “not aware of any significant attacks” in the Ukrainian capital and would not elaborate on the details of the threat that led to the embassy being closed.
