The U.S. embassy in Ukraine said Tuesday that the security situation across Ukraine “continues to be unpredictable,” warning U.S. citizens trying to escape that conditions at each border “could change very quickly.”
Queues may also change without notice, the embassy said, according to CNN.
Photos from various parts of the border have shown long lines of thousands of people waiting to cross the border.
The embassy also reminded its citizens not to cross into Belarus, citing “arbitrary law enforcement, the risk of detention, the Russian military offensive in neighboring Ukraine and the creation of a Russian army in Belarus along the border with Ukraine.”
“Do not travel to Russia,” he added, warning of “the possibility of harassment of American citizens by Russian government security officials” and the “limited ability of the embassy to assist American citizens in Russia.”
