The Trump government has stopped US funding for some of Australia’s leading researchers, according to today’s announcement, while asking others who receive state financial support from Washington to prove that their work is in line with US interests. The team of eight, an alliance of leading Australian universities in research, announced that “these actions can endanger critical research in defense and medicine in the country”. According to Reuters, some researchers, who receive funding from US federal services, were invited to evaluate whether their work is aligned with President Donald Trump’s agenda by answering 36 questions, according to universities.
