The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the United States grew at an annualized pace of 2.6% in the third quarter of 2022, according to an initial estimate released this Thursday, 27, by the US Department of Commerce. The result exceeded the median expectation of analysts consulted by Projeções Broadcast, up 2.4%.
With the positive result, the US economy overcame the technical recession it entered the second quarter, when its GDP shrank 0.6%, marking the second consecutive quarterly contraction.
The Commerce Department also reported that the consumer spending price index (PCE) rose at an annualized rate of 4.2% between July and September, after increasing 7.3% in the second quarter.
The PCE core, which disregards food and energy prices, increased 4.5% in the same range, after a 4.7% increase in the previous quarter.
