The United States Department of Labor reported that initial claims for unemployment benefits they fell by 8,000 in the week ended May 21 to 210,000, below the 210,000 market consensus.
The continued claims for unemployment benefit they had an increase of 31,000 in the week ending May 14 to 1,346,000, from 1,315,000 the previous week (the lowest number since December 1969). A drop to 1,310,000 was expected.
Along with this report, a new estimate of GDP growth for the first quarter was released. Later it will be the turn of the existing home sales report and the manufacturing activity report of the Kansas Fed.
The dollar it initially fell after the data, but later regained lost ground, not being significantly affected by the new figures.
