There were 218,000 initial claims for unemployment benefits in the week ending Nov. 25, according to weekly data released Thursday by the U.S. Department of Labor. This figure follows the previous week’s figure of 211,000 (revised from 211,000) and exceeded market expectations of 220,000.
Continued subsidy claims increased by 86,000 to 1,927,000 in the week ending November 18, the highest level since November 27, 2021.
