The United States has left UNESCO Cultural Organization. This is the second time that the US has been withdrawing from the organization under Donald Trump’s presidency, as they had retired again during his first term. The US returned to UNESCO in 2023 under the presidency of Joe Biden. The State Department said on Tuesday that it made the decision as it believed that the continuation of the participation was not in the country’s national interest. “UNESCO is promoting divisive social and cultural issues and maintains a disproportionate orientation to UN sustainable development goals, a globalized ideological agenda of international development that clashes with our foreign policy ‘first America’,” said the spokesman.
