United States judges are concerned about the possibility that the Trump government is openly disobeying legal orders and disrespecting fundamental rights.
Judge Amy Berman Jackson of the Washington District Court, DC, holds a hearing on Friday (18) about the resignation of more than 1,000 employees of the Consumer Financial Protection Department (CFP) that took place this week.
The dismissals may disregard judicial decisions that the government should not make cuts that interfere with the body’s work at this time.
Judge Trevor McFadden, also in Washington, listens to arguments about whether the changes in the White House in his press violate the rights of the Associated Press first amendment, which, according to the judge, must be preserved.
These two hearings are only the latest in which judges carefully analyze the accusations that the government is ignoring court orders, especially those of first instance district judges.
The accusations that Trump employees intentionally disobeyed the courts have been discussed all week in two cases about the Trump government deporting immigrants to be kept in a prison for terrorists in El Salvador.
Shortly after Friday’s midnight, the government requested a federal circuit court to suspend the contempt criminal proceedings initiated by Judge James Boasberg in Washington.
These processes concern the sending of planes with migrants to El Salvador by the government, although Bomberg instructed government lawyers to return the planes, as deportations may not have been legal.
All of this occurs less than 24 hours after one of the most respected and more time conservative judges in the country, J. Harvie Wilkinson III of the 4th US circuit court, named Reagan, has written an order of seven pages alerting the Trump government that this may be destroying American democracy.
This also occurred in a case of immigration in which the government did little to facilitate the return of a migrant sent by mistake to saved prison.
“If today the Executive claims the right to deport without due process of law and in disrespect for court orders, that guarantee will not be tomorrow that it will not deport American citizens and then exempt the responsibility of bringing them back? And what guarantee will the executive not use his broad discretionary powers against his political enemies?” Wilkinson wrote in an unusual statement.
