The exit door was shown to 1,000 of its employees from various departments by Microsoft Corp within a week. As Axios points out citing a img, US-based Microsoft Corp has laid off 1,000 people, becoming essentially the latest US technology company to cut jobs or reduce hiring amid a global economic slowdown.
The layoffs affected less than 1 percent of the company’s total workforce, or about 221,000 employees, as of June 30.
The company, as reported by the Athens News Agency, announced in July that a small number of jobs were eliminated and that it would increase its human reimgs over time.
Microsoft did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment on the Axios report.
Many technology companies, including Meta Platforms Inc (formerly Facebook), Twitter Inc and Snap Inc have cut layoffs and cut hiring in recent months as global economic growth slows due to higher interest rates, rising inflation and the energy crisis in Europe.
