The US military yesterday destroyed weapons systems of the Houthi rebels of Yemen, as they announced on Friday morning. More specifically, they destroyed nine remotely piloted unmanned aerial systems (UAS) over the Red Sea and two remotely piloted unmanned surface vessels (USVs), also in the Red Sea. They also reported that the Houthis, a movement close to Iran, launched an anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM). They assured that there were no injuries or damage. The drones were deemed to “pose an immediate threat” to US, international coalition forces and merchant ships in the area, the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, which is responsible for the operation, said via X using its standard terminology for operations of this nature.
