US officials recently briefed Trump campaign on possible threats from Iran, sources say

U.S. intelligence officials recently briefed Donald Trump’s campaign on new indications that Iran was planning to escalate attacks against the former president and those around him, they say. CNN several sources familiar with the matter.

So far, there is no indication that the information is related to the apparent second assassination attempt on Trump on Sunday, the sources said.

Intelligence briefings given in recent days speak to potential physical and cybersecurity attacks, increasing the overall security threat against Trump.

THE CNN previously reported that authorities had obtained information about an Iranian plot to assassinate Trump in the weeks leading up to the attempted assassination of the former president at a Pennsylvania rally in July.

There was no indication that the July case was related to Iranian plans.

Separately, the US government has concluded that the Iranian government is behind a hacking and leaking operation that targeted Trump’s campaign and also attempted to target Kamala Harris’ campaign.
