US: President Biden signs $ 770 billion national defense budget

US President Joe Biden today signed into law the National Defense Budget (NDAA) budget for fiscal year 2022, amounting to 770 billion dollars, the White House announced.

In the middle of the month, the Senate and the House of Representatives approved by an overwhelming majority this bill that defines the policy of the Ministry of Defense.

The new budget also included the US-Greece defense cooperation bill, “US-Greece Defense and Interparliamentary Partnership 2021”, which was tabled in June by Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Robert Menendez. To address China, the new law provides for $ 7.1 billion in the Pacific Deterrence Initiative (PDI) as well as a statement from Congress that it supports Taiwan’s defense. It also bans the Ministry of Defense from acquiring products produced by forced labor in China’s Xinjiang region.
