US private employers hired more workers than expected in February, and data from the previous month was revised sharply upwards as the US labor market recovery picked up steam.
475,000 jobs were created in the US private sector last month, the ADP National Employment Report showed on Wednesday.
January data has been revised up to show the creation of 509,000 jobs, rather than the closing of 301,000 as initially reported. Economists polled by Reuters had predicted the opening of 388,000 jobs in February.
The ADP report is developed in conjunction with Moody’s Analytics and comes ahead of the US Department of Labor’s more comprehensive and closely watched employment report, due out Friday with data for February.
