The United States are proposing a “bridge” plan to extend the ceasefire in Gaza until April, in addition to Ramadan and Easter, in order to gain time to negotiate a permanent cessation of hostilities, the White House said on a statement on Friday (14).
The proposal was presented on Wednesday (12) by the US special envoy, Steve Witkoff, and the high employee of the National Security Council, Eric Trager, according to a statement issued by his offices.
“Through our Qatar and Egypt partners, Hamas was unambiguously informed that this” bridge “would have to be implemented soon-and that the citizen with double nationality US-Israel Edan Alexander would have to be released immediately,” he added.
