US: “QAnon shaman” sentenced to 41 months in prison for invading Congress

The self-proclaimed “shaman” of the conspiracy theories QAnon was sentenced on Wednesday (17/11) by a federal court Washington sentenced to 41 months in prison for his role in the deadly January 6 attack on Capitol.

The prosecution requested that a sentence of more than 4 years in prison be imposed on Jacob Chansley, 34, who in September pleaded guilty to obstructing formal proceedings for participating in the invasion of Congress, along with hundreds of supporters of the former president Donald Trump, in order to prevent the validation of his victory Joe Biden in the presidential election.

The same sentence was imposed last week on a man who punched a police officer during the incidents.

THE Chansley, who had caught the public eye because of his attire, which included a headdress with large horns, appeared in court in a dark green prison uniform, beard and shaved head.

While he was a prisoner Chansley was diagnosed by the penitentiary authorities with transient schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression and anxiety. When he agreed to plead guilty, he said he was disappointed because Trump we did not give him a pardon.

Four people were killed in the January 6 violence. A police officer who had been attacked by protesters died the next day, while four of his colleagues later committed suicide. About 140 police officers were injured.

His lawyer Chansley Albert Watkins commented that in 2006 the Navy diagnosed that his client was suffering from a personality disorder but deemed him “fit” to serve.
