US Senate is “confident” that explosion at hospital in Gaza was not caused by Israel

The top Democrats and Republicans on the US Senate Select Committee on Intelligence said they were “confident” that Tuesday’s explosion at a hospital in the northern Gaza Strip was not caused by an Israeli airstrike, but for the failed launch of a rocket from “terrorists”.

“The Senate Intelligence Committee [dos EUA] received and analyzed information related to the attack on al-Ahli hospital in Gaza. Based on this information, we are confident that the explosion was the result of a failed rocket launch by terrorists, and not the result of an Israeli airstrike,” reads a statement issued this Wednesday by commission chairman Mark Warner and deputy -president, Marco Rubio.

Approximately 500 people died in the explosion at Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

Palestinian authorities blame Israel, which denies it and claims that the attack was caused by an Islamic Jihad rocket, which, in turn, also says it had no involvement.

A CNN was unable to independently verify the cause of the hospital explosion.

The US government currently believes Israel is “not responsible” for the hospital explosion, according to the National Security Council, following President Joe Biden’s comments that a Palestinian militant group was behind the attack.
