The US military shot down yet another high-altitude flying object over Lake Huron on Sunday afternoon, according to a US official and a congressional source briefed on the matter.
The operation marks the third consecutive day that an unidentified object has been shot down over US airspace. An unidentified object was shot down in northern Canada on Saturday (11). On Friday (10), another was shot down in Alaskan airspace by a US F-22.
This past weekend, an alleged Chinese surveillance balloon was shot down by F-22s off the coast of South Carolina.
Earlier Sunday, Democratic Representative Elissa Slotkin of Michigan tweeted that she had received a call from the Department of Defense saying the U.S. military “has its eyes on” an object above Lake Huron.
“Just got a call from @DeptofDefense – our military is keeping an eye on the object above Lake Huron,” Slotkin said in a tweet on Sunday.
“We’ll know more about what it was in the coming days, but for now, rest assured that all parties are focused on this from the moment it crossed our waters.”
Republican Representative Jack Bergman of Michigan also confirmed the raid on Sunday, tweeting: “The US military has disabled another ‘object’ over Lake Huron.”
