US studies “response options” in relations with Saudi Arabia after OPEC+ cuts – Antony Blinken

The US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinkensaid Thursday that the United States is “reviewing a series of answer options” regarding its relationship with Saudi Arabia after Riyadh and other OPEC+ countries this week agreed to big cuts in oil production.

“As for the relationship (with Riyadh) going forward, we are reviewing a number of response options. We are consulting closely with Congress,” Blinken told a news conference in Lima alongside his Peruvian counterpart.

Reuters reports that “Blinken did not specify what steps Washington was considering.” President Joe Biden’s administration has been mulling a response after OPEC+ oil producers, including Russia, agreed on Wednesday to cut production.
