The electoral landscape in the swing states of the United States is extremely divided, according to Clifford Young, president of Ipsos in the USA. Speaking at the WW the expert revealed data from surveys carried out in three states that are crucial to the outcome of the American elections.
Young said: “We just did polls in these three states, Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania, three swing states in the Midwest. We’re basically in a split situation.”
What are pendulum states?
Swing states, also known as swing states, are those that do not have a consistent preference for a specific political party and can “swing” between Republican and Democratic candidates each election. These states are considered decisive in determining the final outcome of the presidential race.
The expert stressed that the average of the polls also indicates a scenario of division among voters. However, Young warned of the possibility of changes in the electoral landscape: “There will be a lot of polls coming out around Friday, the weekend and Monday, we will see to what extent this debate changes the scenario or not”.
