A 16-year-old teenager from North Carolina, USA, suffered severe burns on 80% of his bodywhile trying to complete a challenge on TikTok to create fireballs using spray and a lighter, which turn into a mini flamethrower.
His plan didn’t work causing an explosion and he himself was engulfed in flames. According to New York Postthe teenager, who has been identified as Mason Dark, he has third degree burns on his body.
“We heard a big bang and then Mason ran out of his room and started taking his clothes off,” said the mother of the 15-year-old, who is in hospital and has undergone several surgeries. The teenager is expected to remain in hospital for at least six months.
This is not the first time that viral challenges on social media have proven to be terribly dangerous, causing significant health problems and even death for participants.
