As China reopens its economy after three years of lockdown despite the continued rise in COVID-19 cases, the rest of the world is once again imposing restrictions on all arrivals from China.
According to CNN News, The United States will require all travelers from China to show a negative Covid test result before flying to the countrywith effect from January 5.
For his part, Italy announced that it will start carrying out Covid tests on all arrivals from China and urges the countries of the European Union to follow suit, following the 50% positive test rate on Chinese flights in Milan.
The Chosun Ilbo, a South Korean daily, reported that Covid tests may be required of Chinese visitors to South Korea.
After denying that any travel restrictions were going to be imposed on visitors from China, those responsible for transport and the interior of the United Kingdom declared late on Wednesday that they will consider on Thursday whether the UK should follow in the footsteps of the United States and other countries in imposing Covid restrictions on travelers flying from China, according to The Telegraph.
The Telegraph notes: “Officials from the Department for Transport, the Home Office and the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) are expected to assess today whether the UK should follow the lead of six non-stop flights from China, carrying 1,795 places, which will arrive in the next seven days”.
