US: Ukrainian forces in Mariupol have not surrendered to the Russian army

The remaining Ukrainian forces in the southern port city of Mariupol are still fighting in defiance of a Russian demand to surrender, Ukrainian Prime Minister Dennis Smihal said today.

“No, the city has not fallen. Our military forces, our soldiers are still there. They will fight until the end. “As I speak to you, they are still in Mariupol,” Smihal told ABC’s “This Week,” adding that Ukrainian troops were still in control of parts of the city.

Smihal said he would attend meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in Washington this week to seek financial support for Ukraine.

Earlier, Oleg Ustenko, an economic adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said Ukraine had asked the Group of Seven (G7) countries for $ 50 billion in financial support.
