The USA have received information that an order has been sent to the Russian military administrations to invade Ukraine, Several American media outlets reported on Sunday, citing unnamed sources close to the espionage services.
The information prompted US President Joe Biden to say on Friday that he was “convinced” that Russian President Vladimir Putin had decided to attack Ukraine, the Washington Post reported, citing anonymous sources without direct reference to them.
When contacted by Agence France-Presse, the White House, the Pentagon and the State Department did not confirm or deny the allegations, which were reported by other US media outlets.
On Friday, a Pentagon staffer who assisted in compiling the report, said that more than 40 percent of Russian troops stationed on the Ukrainian border had been attacked, adding that Russia had begun destabilizing the country.
Troop movements to the border have been observed since Wednesday, the official said.
