US: Vaccinations drop coronavirus from first to seventh leading cause of death

Proof of the effectiveness of the masses vaccinations is the fact that Covid-19 is no longer the leading cause of death in USA, as it was in December 2020 and January 2021, as in June it dropped to seventh place, after other traditional causes of death.

Coronavirus infection was the third leading cause of death in the United States for much of 2020 (after heart disease and cancer), and peaked at the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021, culminating in 3,136 deaths. per day in January, according to data analysis by Peterson-KFF Health System Tracker.

But this June, after mass vaccinations (by June 30, about two-thirds of American adults had been vaccinated with at least one dose), the average daily death rate from Covid-19 was 342, bringing the disease to seventh place.

At the top, as usual, are again heart disease (2,101 deaths per day) followed by cancer (1,614), accidents (474), stroke (451), chronic lower respiratory disease (377) and Alzheimer’s (351).

The total number of deaths from Covid-19 in the US by the end of June was 604,656 and almost all involved unvaccinated people. However, if vaccinations stagnate from now on, it is estimated that Covid-19 is likely to remain among the top ten causes of death in the country for some time, according to the Peterson-KFF report.
