US warns Hezbollah not to ‘seek to profit’ from Israel-Hamas war

“Neither Hezbollah nor should any other actor, state or non-state, seek to profit from the conflict between Israel and Hamas“, his representative warned today White House National Security Councilreacting to the speech of the head of the pro-Iranian Hezbollah organization of Lebanon, Hassan Nasrallah.

“We will not enter into a war of words. The United States neither seeks to escalate nor widen the conflict that Hamas has unleashed against Israel“, this representative added.

“This could develop into a more bloody war since 2006 between Israel and Lebanon. The US does not want the conflict to spread to Lebanon. The ensuing disaster for Lebanon and its people would be unimaginable, and avoidable,” he said.

Nasrallah’s speech was eagerly awaited as it would be learned if Nasrallah drags Lebanon into war, raging in Gaza. Hezbollah fighters have intervened against Israel on the border between the two countries since the day after the war with Hamas, but without escalating their operations.

During his speech, the Hezbollah leader violently attacked the US while US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken was visiting Israel.

“We are ready to face your fleet, with which you threaten us”, he stated. He accused the United States of being “entirely responsible for the war raging in Gaza”, estimating that the “Israel is but an instrument.” On the Lebanese front, Nasrallah stated that “we entered the battle from October 8.” He estimated that “all options” are on the table and that the possibility of “total war” is “realistic”.
