US woman with double uterus gives birth twice in two days in one-in-a-million pregnancy

A woman on USA with rare double matrix gave birth twice in two days in one pregnancy which occurs “one in a million” and after a total of 20 hours childbirth.

This is 32-year-old Kelsey Hatcher, who knew from the age of 17 that she has two wombs. Before the 20-hour labor with the two births, she had already had three children.

In accordance with BBC Roxy Layla and Rebel Laken were born 24 hours apart at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Hospital.

The strange thing is that the babies were born from a different womb. There were two fetuses, each in one uterus which was discovered when she arrived three months pregnant.

Her husband could not believe that there were two fetuses in two different wombs. Hatcher's case is particularly rare. THE “diceros or didelphis uterus» is estimated to occur in only 0.3% of women worldwide.

Once it was established that the 32-year-old had fetuses in both uteruses, she was put under medical supervision because there was a risk, but everything went well.

Since there is no specific biological term for what the two babies are, doctors call them heterozygous twins. They may have been born from different wombs, yet they developed at the same time of gestation.

It should be noted that Hatcher had three previous, healthy pregnancies. This time, she thought she was pregnant in just one womb – until a routine ultrasound revealed there was also a baby in the second.
