A 21-year-old man was sentenced to 11 years in prison Chicago of USA as sexually abused a seven-year-old girl during an online class.
Cutrell Walsh pleaded guilty on October 15, 2020 to sexually assaulting the child’s horrified teacher in a Google Meet session during the pandemic.
The first grade teacher told the students to be quiet and turn off their cameras during a short break. The girl turned off the sound but not the camera and that’s when the teacher saw Walsh force her to perform oral sex. He then asked the other first-graders to log out and then saw Walsh pick up the laptop and close it, prosecutors said.
The teacher notified the school’s principal, who called the child’s family, Chicago police and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, according to prosecutors. School officials and the girl’s father arrived at the home where the girl revealed to them that it was not the first time he had forced her to do something like this.
Ongoing attacks
The girl was treated at a local hospital and Walsh, who was an 18-year-old high school student at the time, was arrested the next day. He allegedly admitted to the livestreamed assault, as well as previous assaults as part of an ongoing pattern of sexual abuse dating back to when the girl was 6, prosecutors previously alleged.
Walsh’s attorney said at the time that his client had been diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD, which impairs his ability to control his impulses. Walsh pleaded guilty in court as part of a deal with prosecutors, who dropped two other related felony charges as well as an unrelated, earlier weapons charge, the Chicago Tribune reported. Authorities have not disclosed how Walsh and the victim are related.
