USA: A court ruled that the mandatory use of a mask on airplanes was illegal

A federal judge in Florida has ruled that the official directive that has been in place for 14 months mask inside the planes is illegal, thwarting a major presidential effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

The Biden government can appeal against the ruling, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said yesterday. The process will take about two days.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States (CDC) also advises passengers to wear masks on public transportation, Psaki said. “We continue to encourage people to wear masks,” he said in a statement. Joe Biden “It’s up to them” as to whether passengers should continue to wear masks on board aircraft.

More than 400 people die every day from coronavirus

The ruling, which stemmed from a lawsuit filed last year in Tampa, Florida, means that the application of the CDC Central Public Transportation Masks Directive is disabled, a U.S. official said.

The same court decision comes at a time when COVID-19 infections are on the rise in the US and more than 400 people die every day from the pandemic, according to the average number of deaths in the last seven days.

The ruling follows a series of other court rulings against Biden administration executive orders to combat the communicable disease that has claimed the lives of nearly one million Americans, including vaccinations or mandatory diagnostic tests for workers.

“Public health decisions should not be made in the courts. “They must be taken by public health specialists”, noted Psaki.
