USA: At a “critical moment” the negotiations of the agreement allowing grain exports through the Black Sea

His representative American Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ned Price said today that the negotiations for the renewal of the so-called Black Sea Initiative, which allows grain exports from Ukrainian ports, are being conducted at a “critical time”.

Washington looks forward to renewing the agreement reached between Russia and Ukraine, with the mediation of Turkey and under the auspices of the UN. The agreement, which was renewede for 120 days in November, valid until March 18.

Moscow is in favor of renewing the agreement but this time only for 60 days, as it became known earlier today from the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Vershinin.
State Department spokesman Ned Price emphasized that the Black Sea Initiative is essential to the international community as it has allowed exports of grain in developing countries and contributed to lower food prices.

UN: Secretary-General assures he will do “everything possible” to keep the deal in place

THE UN today reaffirmed its commitment to the so-called Black Sea Initiative, which allows grain exports from Ukrainian ports, with the Organization’s Secretary-General Antonio Guterres assuring that he will do everything possible to keep it in place.

“The UN Secretary General has confirmed that the United Nations they will do everything possible to ensure the integrity and continuity of the Initiative for the grain of the Black Sea”says the relevant announcement issued after the talks between officials of the Russian government and the UN in Geneva.
