The county is about an hour and a half drive west of Nashville.
Police initially reported about forty missing, but now speak of about 20, including several children.
According to the state Emergency Management Agency, as reported by AMPE, “22 to 43 centimeters of rain fell in the affected area of ​​central Tennessee within 6 hours on Saturday morning” and the rain continued until night, causing “Catastrophic” floods.
Officials in Waverley likened torrential rainfall to cyclone or tornado, explaining that huge amounts of water fell so fast that people did not have time to seek safe haven.
