USA: At least six injured in a shooting at a school in Oakland

At least six people were injured during it armed attack near campus school in her Oakland California at USAlocal authorities reported in the early hours of Thursday (9/29).

The attack took place at Rudsdale Newcomer High School, Oakland Police Deputy Chief Darren Allison said at a news conference about the shooting that injured at least six people.

The school is home to high-risk students who recently immigrated to the U.S. from their home countries “because of the violence and instability” that prevails there, the institution’s website says.

“The victims were associated with the school and we are currently trying to ascertain who that was for each of them,” the official said. According to local media, all the injured were adults, but Alison did not confirm this. As also if one or more criminals acted.

Paramedics took six injured people to local hospitals, all with gunshot wounds, according to Oakland Fire Department spokesman Michael Hunt. Three of the injured are in serious condition. The health status of the others was unknown, officials said.

The Oakland shooting shocked the US again after the recent school shooting in Philadelphia, while the country still hasn’t forgotten the Uvalde massacre.

The northern California city has seen an increase in incidents of gun violence and mass shootings for two years, a phenomenon that has begun to intensify since the first stage of the coronavirus pandemic. Within 2022, almost 100 people have lost their lives in incidents of armed violence.
