Although the US was on track to reach the milestone of 200 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine, cases of the new coronavirus are rising and have reached a very high level, PBS reported.
Cases of SARS-CoV-2 in the US “increased from almost 95,000 daily on average on November 22 to almost 119,000 per day this week”, while admissions of patients with COVID-19 have increased by 25% this month compared to the previous one, according to the same source.
The fact that about 60% of the US population is fully vaccinated “is not enough to prevent outbreaks.”
The United States, which is nearing the tragic milestone of 800,000 deaths – had recorded 794,498 as of Thursday – after the new coronavirus pandemic broke out in its territory, is the country that has suffered by far the heaviest impact from the global health crisis.
