A driver, believed to have deliberately dropped the car of, with all his family inside, on a cliff 75 meters deep, it was caught in the north California of United States of America.
The wife and two children of Dharmesh Arvind Patel, 41, were miraculously saved.
The 41-year-old was driving his vehicle, a Tesla, near San Francisco, on the famous “Highway 1”, which runs along the ocean. At some point the car veered off its course and fell into the cliff.
Despite the spectacular fall and damage to the vehicle, all occupants were rescued and airlifted to Stanford Hospital. Patel, who is a doctor and works at a hospital near Los Angeles, is being treated under guard and will be arrested once doctors determine he can be discharged.
Based on the first evidence, the highway traffic police have reason to believe that “the accident was a deliberate act”.
This stretch of Highway 1 is notorious for the traffic accidents that occur there. It is very rare that anyone who drives their car off a cliff survives.
Rescuers called to the scene on Monday thought they would find bodies, but saw movement through the vehicle’s shattered windscreen and mounted a rescue operation involving several helicopters. “We were surprised to find the victims alive in the vehicle,” explained Brian Pottinger, the commander of the California Forest and Fire Service.
The family’s two children, a 7-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy, suffered only “moderate” injuries.
