A gunman has killed four people and wounded three others – including a member of the security forces – in a series of attacks in the Denver area on Monday before being shot dead by police, local officials said.
It all started around 5pm when the man, whose details have not yet been released and whose motives remain unknown so far, shot and killed two women and injured a man in downtown Denver, the leader explained. of the general police directorate of the big city, Paul Payzen, during a press conference.
The suspect, who escaped by car, shot and killed a man in the Chisman Park neighborhood of East Denver. He later opened fire in a West Denver neighborhood without injuring anyone.
According to the Denver police chief, the suspect exchanged fire twice from inside his car with police officers who chased him and put a patrol car out of action.
The gunman then drove the car to Lakewood, near Denver, where he shot and killed another man – the fourth in a row – in a private operation, according to John Romero, a police spokesman in that city.
The gunman initially escaped from Lakewood police who tried to stop his car and began a new chase with sporadic exchanges of fire. He left the car and, now walking, entered a hotel, shot and injured an employee. He then fired again at police, injuring one before being killed by police.
The condition of the injured is not yet known, according to Mr. Romero.
