USA: Gunman who killed seven in Illinois planned another attack, police say

In the United States, the Justice held on Wednesday (6) the first hearing of the young man accused of shooting and killing seven people in the state of Illinois on Monday (4), during the celebrations of Independence Day.

The court denied his release on bail. Robert Crimo, 21, admitted to the crime and said he had planned it for weeks. According to police, the young man drove to Wisconsin after what happened in Illinois and was planning another attack in the city of Madison.

He received seven counts of murder, and could be sentenced to life in prison. Among the seven victims of the Illinois attack were Kevin and Irina McCarthy, who left a two-year-old son. Kevin used his own body to protect his family from the shooting.

The gunman also killed a mother who was watching the parade alongside her daughter; a preschool teacher; a father of eight children; an eighty-eight-year-old grandfather; a gentleman who would have turned 70 this Saturday (9).
