USA: ISM manufacturing PMI falls to 49.2 points in April, below the expected 50

He US PMI manufacturing index published by ISM (Institute for Supply Management) has decreased 1.1 points in April, placing it at 49.2. The sector once again enters contraction territory after achieving expansion in March with 50.3 points for the first time since October 2022. The data disappoints market expectations, since a slight decline to 50 was expected.

He ISM manufacturing employment component has risen to 48.6 points in April from 47.4, its best figure in seven months. He prices paid index has skyrocketed to 60.9 points from 55, its highest level since June 2022.

Finally, the new orders index has fallen to 49.1 from 51.4, its lowest level in four months.

The Dollar Index (DXY) has fallen after the weak ISM data to 106.14, a new low for the day. At the time of writing, the greenback is moving above 106.15, losing 0.17% daily.
