White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan will travel to Israel and the West Bank next week, a senior U.S. government official confirmed Monday.
In Jerusalem, where Sullivan plans to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, the central topic of discussion will be the Iranian threat.
The US official explained that Washington shares with Israel deep concerns about the progress of the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program. Mr. Sullivan’s visit, he added, would reaffirm the United States’ commitment to the security of the Jewish state.
“Israel and the United States mean to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons,” he added.
Mr. Sullivan will meet with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank, to promote peace and security for Palestinians and Israelis, according to the official.
