US President Joe Biden has said he would run for president again if he were “healthy” and that “fate” would help him win a second term.
Biden, 79, made the remarks in an interview with ABC News, stressing that a rematch with former President Donald Trump would be “welcome” and that a rematch with his opponent in 2020 would make his candidacy more likely.
“Of course, why not run against Donald Trump if he were a candidate? That would increase the prospect of running for office,” he said.
“If I am in the health I am now – I am in good shape – then I would run again,” Biden said.
“I have a lot of respect for fate. Fate has intervened in my life many, many times.”
Trump, now 75, will be in his late 80s in the White House if he wins a second term.
