USA: Joe Biden’s popularity is falling

The popularity of the US president Joe Biden fell again this week, to 40%, a clear warning to the Democratic Party that it will try to maintain control of Congress in the November midterm elections.

According to a poll conducted by Reuters and Ipsos on March 21-22, 54% of Americans disapprove of the president’s performance, at a time when the country is facing inflationary pressures while at the same time Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has intensified geopolitical concerns.

Compared to last week, the percentage of those who applaud Biden has decreased by three weeks. His Republican predecessor, Donald Trump, had the same percentage of popularity, at 40%, in mid-March of the second year of his term. In December 2017 its popularity had dropped to 33%.

THE poll conductedwas published online, in English, throughout the United States. A total of 1,005 adults were interviewed, including 432 Democrats and 366 Republicans. The margin of statistical error is 4 points.
