USA launch new attacks on Houthis in Yemen, says broadcaster

The United States performed new air strikes at Yemen on Monday (17), said TV Al Masirah dos Houthis, expanding the largest American military operation in the Middle East since President Donald Trump took office in January.

Five children and two women were among the victims and 98 people were injured, Alsbahi added at X.

The Houthis, an armed movement that has taken control of most of the Yemen in the last decade, have launched dozens of ships on the coast since November 2023, interrupting global trade.

The US campaign to intercept missiles and drones burned inventory of US air defenses.

The attacks, which an authority in the United States told Reuters that they may continue for weeks, occur while Washington increases the pressure of sanctions on Iran while trying to take him to the negotiating table about his nuclear program.

Leader Houthi, Abdul Malik al-Houthi, said on Sunday that the militants would target US ships in the Red Sea while the US continued the attacks on Yemen.

“If they continue with the aggression, we will continue to climb,” he said in a televised speech.

The Housei movement’s political bureau described US attacks as a “war crime.” Moscow asked Washington to stop.

The movement’s military spokesman, without providing evidence, stressed in a televised statement on Monday morning that the group had launched a second attack on USS Harry S. Truman in the Red Sea.
